OPENING OF GATEWAY CENTER SUPERMARKET IN EAST NEW YORK
NYCEDC and ShopRite Announce Grand Opening of Gateway Center Supermarket, creating over 350 quality jobs in East New York.
The ShopRite Supermarket opened up this morning at 9AM with a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony. The supermarket will provide more than 350 local part-time and full-time jobs in the community, as well as fresh produce in an undeserved area. The supermarket is located in the Gateway Center shopping mall, is the ninth supermarket to open through the Food Retail Expansion to Support Health (FRESH) Program. The FRESH program, (which was launched by NYCEDC in partnership with the City Council), works to increase access to food in underserved communities throughout all five boroughs by incentivizing the establishment and retention of neighborhood supermarkets.
There will now be a wide range of fresh produce and groceries for East New Yorkers via the new ShopRite, as well as other perks such as a pharmacy; a from scratch fresh bake shop featuring store made bread, doughnuts and pastries; an onsite cake decorator; fresh meat cut to order; a floral department; fresh seafood delivered daily; a cold beer department; and a catering coordinator to help customers with all of their entertaining needs. The store will also feature a broad selection of natural and organic products in every department, as well as a wide selection of freshly prepared meals
from a hot buffet bar which includes entrées, gourmet delicacies and cheeses from around the world.

The new Sprint store is officially open at the Gateway Center Mall. The brand new store opened this past Friday August 1, with special sales promotions, which are still available.
