Many people are anxious to find out what the status of their U.S. citizenship application is, and the USCIS has established two ways that you can stay informed. In addition to receiving alerts on the latest program you can also review the status of your immigration process from the comfort of your home within the USCIS page.
The Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) announced that applicants who have an outstanding affirmative asylum petition with USCIS can now verify their online status at egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do Only asylum seekers with a pending application with USCIS will be able to use this new feature to verify the status of your case online. This will not cover defensive asylum seekers whose cases are pending in an immigration court.
How do I find out the status of my case online?
You can check the status of your naturalization application by visiting the USCIS website. Click this link for the specific page. You can change the language of the Web page to Spanish by clicking where it says ‘ Spanish ‘ on the top right side of the page.
To find out the status of your application, you will need to enter the number of your receipt in the middle of the page.
The receipt number consists of 13 characters and is found in the notifications that USCIS sends to you. The number includes three letters followed by 10 numbers. When you enter your number, omit the hyphens (“-“), but include all other characters, including asterisks (*), if they are part of your receipt number.

How do I find out the status of my case over the phone?
Another way you can find out about the status of your case is by phone, by calling USCIS customer service at 1-800-767-1833.
After that, choose the number 2 again for the option for updates in your case. You will then be asked for your receipt number.

Only customers whose cases have a receipt number will have the ability to monitor their case. The other cases will be handled based on the account number, which is often referred to as number A. These start with an “a”, followed by a number of eight or nine digits. In these cases you can monitor the processing time, but not control the prosecution of a particular case.
